Pause for thought ...
A new start?
If you had the chance to live your life again, what would you
change... your family, your education, your job, your friends, yourself? However
hard we try to get away from our past, we often have regrets and feel trapped
by it. As Cher sang, 'If I could turn back time, if I could find a way ...' Of course it's
impossible to turn the clock back, but the idea of a brand new start is very attractive.
What did Jesus Christ say?
He's not really on Facebook, of course, but he's just as up to the minute. When he said, 'You must
be born again', Jesus recognised a need we still have today. He wasn't simply o ering the chance
to wipe the slate clean and have another go. Jesus knew that life is only worth living when we
live it with God. And to do that we need a new life which can only come from God. A life that
enables us to see the world, ourselves and God in a new way. A life that starts now, outlives
death and lasts forever. This new life has changed many people throughout history - including
the person who wrote this!
How do you get a new life?
You need to ask God for it! You certainly can't make it happen by
yourself. Turning over a new leaf or becoming 'religious' will never
work. What you must do is recognise your need and take Jesus at his
word. He promises new life to everyone who believes in him. God
will forgive and forget your past, and help you now and in the future.
Isn't it time for a fresh start?
